This Privacy Policy explains what information Rushbelle collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Rushbelle to be research-first and privacy-friendly — we collect as little as we need to make the app work.
Account and profile: email and password, a username, your role (future member, current student, or parent/family), your birth month and year, asked at sign-up (used only to confirm you are old enough: 16 or older for an account, 17 or older for friends and messages and 18 or older for meetups and featured photos; never shown to anyone, and locked once set), and optionally your name, school, high school graduation year, your answers to “Get to know you” (where you are in Rush, what you’re nervous about, and what you love doing; saved on your phone and used only to tailor what you see), an optional profile photo (see Section 5), and a school email used only to show a “verified” badge. Your Bid Day selfie is created and kept on your device and, if you choose, in your camera roll; it is never uploaded to Rushbelle. Rush planning: saved schools and chapters, your match preferences (budget, GPA range, region, and vibe), Rush Prep entries such as your résumé, rec-letter tracker, outfit and round notes, and practice answers (your résumé headshot and any outfit photos you add stay only on your phone; see Section 5), and your post-Bid Day outcome if you choose to share it. Community: your connections, add code, meetup RSVPs, guest counts and check-ins, direct messages, and any reports you file. Purchases: whether you have Rushbelle Pro or question packs (we receive this from Apple through our subscription provider; we never see your card number). Chapter officers and partners: if you claim a chapter page or request Chapter Pro or National Pro access, in the app or on app.rushbelle.com, we collect your name, role, official email, organization and school, and anything you enter on your page. Suggestions: if you suggest a missing house, we keep what you submit.
We and our analytics and crash-reporting providers collect app version, device type and operating system, general in-app activity (screens viewed and features used), and diagnostic or crash data. We use this as first-party product analytics, to understand and improve Rushbelle, and to give chapters, campus Panhellenics, and national organizations the combined totals described in Section 7. These events are recorded without your name or account (keyed to an app session, not to you). We do not use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising, and we do not share it with data brokers. We do not collect your precise location; meetup locations are the places hosts type in.
Chat with your Big, voice-practice feedback, and the Rush résumé are generated by an AI model operated by our AI processing provider, Anthropic PBC (United States). Before the first use we show you what will be sent and ask your permission; you can decline, and you can withdraw permission at any time in Me > Settings > Consents & Privacy. What is sent: the question you type and your recent messages in that chat; for voice practice, the transcript your phone creates on the device (the audio recording itself never leaves your phone); for the résumé, the facts you enter in the form; and, with any of these, the verified Rush data for the schools you have hearted. What is never sent: your name, email, username, account ID, photo, location, connections, or messages. Anthropic processes this data only to generate the reply, on our instructions, does not use it to train its models, and is bound by contract to security and confidentiality measures at least as protective as this policy. We keep a usage record for each AI request (feature, time, size, and cost) against your account so we can apply your starter, Pro, or question-pack allowance; the record does not contain what you wrote.
We keep the text of questions asked to the Big, and the Big’s reply, with no link to your account, device, or any identifier, so we can see what people need and improve the Big’s verified answers. These records cannot be traced back to you. If you accept our post-Bid Day invitation to share what you wish you had known, your contribution is moderated, combined with other members’ contributions, stripped of your name and username, and used to inform the Big and other features (see Terms, Section 8). We do not use your direct messages, meetup details, profile, or connections for any of this. Your Bid Day result (optional): if you tell us how Rush ended, the answer is saved on your phone. It is sent to us only if you are signed in and turn on “Help the next class.” Then we store your result (joined, Continuous Open Bidding, no bid, or prefer not to say), your school, the chapter if you name one, and the year, linked to your account so you can change it. We only ever show these results combined with others as totals. We never show your name or your individual result to anyone, including chapters, and we never sell it. Turning “Help the next class” off removes your result from our servers. If you delete your account, your result is unlinked from you and stays only as part of the de-identified totals.
Rushbelle uses images in only five places, and never to identify anyone. (1) Profile photo (optional): you choose a photo from your library and crop it; we upload that one image to a private folder at our storage provider (Supabase, United States) tied to your account. Only you can see it: it appears on your own profile, and other members see your initials instead. You can replace it at any time, and it is deleted from our storage when you delete your account. (2) Bid Day selfie (optional): you take a photo with the camera or choose one from your library, and Rushbelle adds its frame on your phone. Saving and sharing it happens on your phone, and the photo is not uploaded. If you are 18 or older, signed in, and choose to submit it to be featured, we upload that one framed photo to a private folder at our storage provider (Supabase, United States) that only the Rushbelle team can see. We also keep a record of the statement you ticked, the time, your username, and the version of our Terms. We confirm you are 18 or older from the birth month and year saved to your account (Section 1). The Rushbelle team reviews submissions; we may post a photo on Rushbelle’s social media and in the app, with your username, and we may decline any photo. We do not tell anyone whether their photo will be featured. Ask us at any time and we will take down a photo of you that we posted. If you delete your account, photos we did not feature are deleted; a featured photo is kept with its consent record as proof of permission until you ask us to remove it. (3) Résumé and cover letter headshot (optional): you choose a photo from your library and crop it, and the app keeps that copy only on your phone so it can place it on the résumé or cover letter you create. Rushbelle does not upload, save, or receive your headshot; it never reaches our servers or our AI provider, and it is never shown to other members or chapters. It leaves your phone only inside a PDF that you choose to share. You can turn it off with “No headshot on my page” or remove it at any time, which deletes the copy on your phone; deleting the app deletes it too. (4) Rush outfit photos (optional): in Rush Prep’s look book you can choose a photo of each outfit from your library. The app keeps those copies only on your phone so it can show them in your look book and place them in the look book PDF you create. Rushbelle does not upload, save, or receive them, and they never reach our servers or our AI provider. You can remove a photo at any time, which deletes the copy on your phone; deleting the app deletes them too. (5) Chapter house photos (Chapter Pro): a verified officer of a Chapter Pro chapter can upload up to three photos of the chapter house. They are stored at our storage provider (Supabase, United States) and shown publicly on that chapter’s page, labeled as provided by the chapter. They must show the house, not people, and are governed by the Partner Terms. The officer can remove them at any time, and they stop showing if the chapter’s Chapter Pro ends. What we never do: Rushbelle does not use face detection, face recognition, facial geometry, ARKit, TrueDepth, or any analysis of the people in your photos; we do not create, collect, or keep any biometric identifier, faceprint, or face template; and no photo is ever sent to our AI provider. Camera and photo-library access is used only when you start one of these features, and you can turn it off in your device’s Settings.
To provide the Service: show you schools and chapters, power your match profile and Rush Prep, run Chat with your Big and apply your allowance, let you save, connect, plan meetups, and message, and process purchases through Apple. To keep the Service safe: enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, review reported content, and prevent abuse. To improve the Service: first-party analytics and the de-identified question and contribution records in Section 4. To contact you: service messages about your account, purchases, and material changes; optional push notifications you control in Settings; and marketing email only if you opt in. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Only the providers that run a part of the Service, each limited to what their part needs: Anthropic (AI replies, Section 3); Supabase (hosting and database, United States); GitHub (encrypted weekly backups of our database, each deleted automatically after 30 days, so your account can be restored after an outage); Apple and RevenueCat (purchases and subscription status); Sentry (crash reporting); Expo (app updates and push notifications); Klaviyo (our email list provider, which holds your email, first name if you gave one, role, school and Rush term; we send marketing email such as deadline reminders only if you opt in, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings or from the link in any email); Resend (safety alerts sent to the Rushbelle team when content is reported); and, when you follow a link in the Shop, the affiliate retailer under its own privacy policy. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of members. If Rushbelle is ever acquired, your information would transfer under this policy. Chapters and members may see combined totals, such as how many members saved a chapter. A chapter, campus Panhellenic, or national organization that partners with Rushbelle may also see combined totals for its own pages: how many times its page was viewed, and how many members saved it, broken out by high school graduation year and by role (future member, college student, or parent). These are totals only. No one sees who viewed or saved a page, no one receives individual records or raw data, and any group smaller than 10 people is hidden. Your birth month and year and your “Get to know you” answers are never used for these totals. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or for cross-app advertising.
Members can see your username, role, and school if you add them, and whether you have a verified badge (never the email behind it). Your add code is shown only when you choose to share it. Meetup hosts and attendees can see that you RSVP’d, your guest count, and your check-in unless you choose to attend privately. People you message can see your messages. Your email, purchases, Rush Prep entries, practice answers, résumé, Big questions, and outcome are private to you.
Edit your profile and photo in Me. Turn AI features on or off, and see what is sent, in Me > Settings > Consents & Privacy. Control push notifications in Settings. Block any member and report any message, meetup, or profile from the screen it appears on. Leave any conversation. Choose not to provide optional information such as a school email or photo, and decline the post-Bid Day invitation to contribute.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings & Privacy (the gear at the top right) > Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent on our servers: your profile, profile photo (the image file itself, from our storage), saved items, Rush Prep entries, connections, meetup RSVPs, messages, allowance records, and purchase status are removed, and anything you reported or contributed is unlinked from you. What remains: de-identified question and contribution records (Section 4), which contain nothing that identifies you; aggregate analytics; and purchase records that Apple keeps under its own terms. Your profile is also deleted from our email list provider. Crash reports are retained by our crash-reporting provider for up to 90 days. Backups: to protect your account from an outage, we make an encrypted weekly copy of our database that only Rushbelle can decrypt. Each copy is deleted automatically after 30 days, so information you delete is gone from our backups within 30 days. We use backups only to recover the Service after an outage, never for any other purpose. Otherwise we keep your information only while your account is active.
Rushbelle accounts are for people 16 and older, and the app is not directed to children under 13. We ask for birth month and year at sign-up and do not knowingly let anyone under 16 create an account; if you believe someone under 16 has an account, email us and we will delete it. Members under 18 may use School Search, Favs, Rush Prep, and Chat with your Big. Members who are 17 may also use connections and direct messages with accepted connections; meetups and featured Bid Day photos are for members 18 and older. Members under 17 may not use connections, messaging, or meetups.
We protect your information with encryption in transit, database access rules that let each member reach only her own private data, private storage for photos, and encrypted backups. No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, or delete it, by emailing support@rushbelle.com. Most of it you can view, edit, or delete yourself in the app. We will not treat you differently for making a request. California residents: see our California Privacy Notice at app.rushbelle.com/california-privacy, which also explains how we respond to Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Rushbelle does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Rushbelle is operated from the United States, and our providers process information in the United States. If you use Rushbelle from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. We will revise the date above, and for material changes we will ask you to review and accept the new version in the app before continuing.
Privacy questions or requests, including requests to access or delete your information: email support@rushbelle.com.
